Explore my world

One life, several rooms

I've never been particularly interested in choosing one lane.

For most of my life I was told the same thing in different words: pick a thing, go deep, and let the rest go. I understood the logic. I just never believed it. The person who builds a payments company and the person who plays records until two in the morning are not two people managing a scheduling conflict. They're the same person, curious in the same way, about how things actually work and who's in the room.

So this site isn't a résumé. It's closer to a field recording — businesses I'm building, music I'm making, the tables I keep trying to make longer, the things I'm reading and arguing with. Some of it is polished. Most of it is in progress. That's the honest version.

The work is unglamorous, and that's the point

Payments is plumbing. It's regulation, risk, trust and a thousand unspectacular decisions that decide whether a business gets paid on a Friday. I've spent my career in that world — building companies, operating them, and backing founders doing the same. Placeholder copy: replace with the specifics of the companies and the thesis.

Then the other half of the week

I play and produce as DJ Jordan Miller, and I build in music through Mixmode. A set is a business problem with better lighting: read the room, take a risk, hold your nerve. Placeholder copy: replace with residencies, releases and the sound.

Almost everything good started at a table

Austin, Jewish life, philanthropy, and a monthly gathering called Third Thursday that started small and refused to stay that way. I'm not especially good at networking. I'm decent at hosting. Placeholder copy: replace with organizations, roles and the story of Third Thursday.

And the parts that don't fit on a résumé

Training early. Travelling badly and often. Faith, family, long dinners, books I keep re-reading and arguments I enjoy losing. Placeholder copy: replace with the real texture.

Community

Getting good people in the same room, on purpose, repeatedly

Austin gave me a city worth investing in. Jewish life gave me a calendar that insists on gathering. Third Thursday is what happens when you take both seriously and put a date on it.

Life

There is a lot of life outside the work

Training before the day starts. Travel that changes the way I think. Food, faith, friendships kept up over decades, and a running list of things I'm trying to be less bad at.

Say hello

No pitch. Just an open door.

If we met somewhere, if you're building something interesting, if you want to come to a dinner, or if you just want to argue about a record — write to me. I read everything and answer most of it.
